London’s commuter belt is Britain’s number one rural haven.
According to data from Halifax, London commuter towns made up the top four rural places to live in Britain. South Oxfordshire, Chiltern and Waverley made up the top three.
The Halifax Rural Quality of Life survey showed that the commuter belt dominated the list, along with the rest of the South East.
The survey measured labour market issues, housing, environment, health, education and personal well-being.
Craig McKinley is the mortgages director at Halifax. “Many of the towns in the top 20 are either within commuting distance to the capital or another major city.
“With South Oxfordshire (our number one area) in particular, the residents can enjoy the financial benefits of working in London and still have the rural lifestyle.”
